Billing and Payment Policy and Information

Lancaster Radiology Associates, MRI Group, and Lancaster PET Partnership

We are committed to providing you with the best possible care and we are pleased to discuss our billing and payment policies with you at any time. Your clear understanding of our financial policy is important to our professional relationship. Please ask if you have any questions about our fees, financial policy or your financial responsibility. (Billing office phone number: 717-394-6028.) Please bring your insurance cards and ID with you to each appointment. If your insurance has changed since your last visit, please inform the registration staff when you arrive for your appointment.

Insurance Billing Process:

The three entities participate with many insurance plans. We will directly bill your insurance and apply any applicable contractual adjustments based on our contractual relationship with your insurance company. After we receive payment from your primary insurance, we will bill deductibles, coinsurance, and/or copay as assigned by primary insurance to any secondary insurance you have provided. If there is no secondary insurance, deductibles, coinsurance and copay responsibility will be transferred to you for payment.

Patient Billing Process:

Patients with financial responsibility, due to no insurance coverage or insurance company assigned deductibles, coinsurance and/or copay, will receive a patient statement describing the service provided and the balance owed.

Who is the Physician listed on my Lancaster Radiology Associates bill, I've never seen him/her?

Lancaster Radiology Associates: Physicians interpret all diagnostic imaging services performed at Lancaster General Health imaging facilities. All Lancaster Radiology Associates physicians are licensed by the State of Pennsylvania and are members of the Lancaster General Medical Staff. They are credentialed, and board certified by the American Board of Radiology. After your study was completed by the radiologic technologist, the Lancaster Radiology Associates radiologist interpreted your image(s). The radiologist issued a detailed report to your referring physician who requested the imaging study.

Why am I receiving a bill from Lancaster Radiology Associates? What services did this Physician provide?

The charge from Lancaster Radiology Associates was for the professional services of the radiologist who read your imaging study. This is called the professional component charge. The charge from Lancaster General Health was for the services of the technologist, equipment uses, and any other medical supplies needed to perform the study. This is called a technical component charge.

How will I know if my insurance will cover the radiology study?

It is the patient’s responsibility to contact your insurance carrier to get any preauthorization needed for coverage of certain procedures. If you are scheduled for an MRI through the MRI Group, you will need to provide a separate insurance authorization for that procedure. Visit the MRI Group website to learn more about this process.

Who do I contact if I have questions about my bill?

You can call the business office for Lancaster Radiology Associates, the MRI Group and Lancaster PET Partnership at (717) 394-6028 daily from 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. In addition, if you simply need to leave new information like a change of address or insurance information you can provide that information through the voicemail system 24 hours a day by calling the number listed above.

What forms of payment do you accept?

You may pay your bill with cash, check or credit card (VISA, MasterCard or Discover). You can pay in person, by phone or online.

Can I Pay Online?

Yes. Simply refer to your patient statement. In the upper right-hand corner of the patient statement you’ll be directed to our secure online payment system. You’ll need to enter both the Code-ID and Access # that are unique and secure to your account to pay online.
We accept all major credit cards. If you pay your bill by credit card, we do not store your credit card information.
We take appropriate steps to ensure data privacy and security, including the use of various hardware and software methodologies. However, we cannot guarantee the security of any information that is disclosed online. Our merchant provider uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software that is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name and address, so that it cannot be read over the internet.

Is it safe to provide personal information to Lancaster Radiology Associates?

Our practice is dedicated to maintaining the privacy of your Protected Health Information.
Protected Health Information” is information that individually identifies you and that we create or get from you or from another health care provider, health plan, your employer, or a health care clearinghouse and that relates to (1) your past, present, or future physical or mental health or conditions, (2) the provision of health care to you, or (3) the past, present, or future payment for your health care.
We may use and disclose your Protected Health Information without your prior written authorization for payment from your health plan or a third party.

My insurance carrier didn’t pay all of your charges, why?

Lancaster Radiology Associates does not keep details regarding specific health care insurance plans. Many plans carry co-pays, deductibles, and authorization requirements. It is the patient’s responsibility to contact your health plan carrier or employer and find out the specific details of your deductible and/or co-pay policy.

Where can I make a payment in person?

The Lancaster Radiology Associates Business Office is located at 941 Wheatland Avenue, Suite 100 in Lancaster. This is the Wheatland Place office building at the corner of Race and Wheatland Avenues. We are open Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4: 00 p.m.

If I don’t have health insurance, does Lancaster Radiology Associates provide a discount for prompt payment?

Lancaster Radiology Associates will provide a discount for prompt payment for patients without health insurance. In addition, we offer payment terms and plans. Simply talk to our customer service representatives at (717) 394-6028 to discuss payment terms.

Does Lancaster Radiology Associates accept the same ‘charity care’ standards as Lancaster General?

Yes, if you have applied for and been granted ‘charity care’ status through LG, simply provide Lancaster Radiology Associates proof of your acceptance to keep in your patient file.

If I need a copy of my study (x-ray, CT, ultrasound), can you get that for me?

Your imaging study is stored in the Lancaster General electronic health record system. You or your physician will need to call (717) 544-4907 to arrange to pick up your imaging study. You can also access all of your patient records by registering with Lancaster General’s MyLGHealth.
